A person who believed in omens or portents might be disinclined to start a new project on a day when the sky is brown and acrid with Canadian wildfire smoke. But I say damn the miasma, full speed ahead!

But what is this thing that I speed headlong into? To be honest, I’ll need to figure that out as I go along. My best guess for now is that this blog will simply serve a a general repository of thoughts and photos from my day-to-day life. Think of it as a social media feed with more depth and less algorithm-driven toxicity. (My toxicity is 100-percent natural – no algorithm required!)
The focus of the content here will be purposely unfocused, at least to start. This blog will be about the full range of things that interest me. I understand that probably limits the potential appeal to readers, but it is the only approach likely to keep me engaged as a writer. In my professional life and much of my personal life, I am narrowly focused. This is my space to wander free range.
My first post is now in the can and the world outside my window is enveloped in sepia haze. In both cases, I’ll hope for better tomorrow.
